ART: we had a wonderful workshop today, presented by Burnaby Arts Council on Art and The Environment. The students made beautiful collage art and each piece was unique!
ADST: bring in cardboard for your golf course project!
NOTICE HOME: give Playland permission form to parents, have them fill it out and return to back to school right away! Remind them to pay for the field trip at SchoolCash online. The fee is $28. Also, calling for drivers to help us get to Playland and back.
Monday, June 1st
MATHS: finish the questions assigned today in the UNIT REVIEW in the textbook, page #168-170, #5, 8, 10, 14 & 18. Due Tuesday. This will help you be prepared for the test which is on Wednesday (June 3).

ECO-FAIR: it’s Eco-Fair Day tomorrow! Woo hoo! Bring a table cloth! Learn your information better so you can speak without needing to read off the display board! Be ready to talk to all age groups – from kindergarten students to all-knowing Grade 7s! Also important: GET A GOOD NIGHT’S SLEEP and bring a healthy, nutritious snack and lunch tomorrow to help sustain you for a whole day of teaching!
Criteria for Presenting:

Each student contributes equally to presentation

Be confident and passionate about the topic – speak with expressive voices

Know the problem and facts well; speak without reading from display board
-
Convince the audience of the importance of your issue
-
Share a detailed plan of solutions for changing the problem
-
The plan makes sense and is possible for others to implement

Convince your audience to take action!
MATHS: study for unit test which will be next Wednesday most likely.
Wednesday, May 27th
ECO-FAIR: bring a table cloth or something similar to cover the desks for your exhibit. Use the feedback you’ve been given to improve your presentation. Polish it up and practice for the Eco Fair! Every group member needs to know all the information inside and out.

MATHS: Please finish the following at home if you didn’t finish it in class today:
Lesson 4.6: questions #1 & 2, AND Lesson 4.7: #2 & 4, AND Unit Review: #1 – 4 (1, 2, 3, 4) First page only! Due Thursday.
Upcoming in Maths: Unit test on circumference & area of circles, area of parallelograms and area triangles next week, probably Wednesday. Also you should know how to read, interpret & make circle graphs as well.
Tuesday, May 26/26
MATHS: show your “Best Pizza Deal” quiz to parents/guardians, have them sign it and return to school tomorrow. Remember, if you made a mistake on this quiz, explain what you would do next time!
ECO-FAIR INQUIRY PROJECT: We listened to our first presentations today! Everyone else, be ready to present tomorrow. Practice at home so you can speak confidently and knowledgeably – you need to be an expert!
Also, bring a table cloth or something similar to cover your desks for your exhibit. Thanks!

Project Criteria:
Main task: develop, implement and share a plan with your peers and school community to reduce human impact on the Earth and its inhabitants.
Sub-tasks:

Who is all involved (the stakeholders) and what do they want

What solutions there are to reduce and/or reverse the impact

Indigenous perspectives on the issue and solutions

Create a product that helps to get your message across to your audience and inspires them to support your ideas on how things can be improved; it reinforces the lesson you want your audience to understand.
