Midway through this chapter (page 43 P2), we read the following:
“Stronger than any burning in his arms and belly, more haunting than the darkness that surrounded him, was the realization that he was alone, totally alone with himself. And it scared him.”
Task: explain the meaning of this quote. Why does being along with himself scare him more than anything?
Criteria: remember to include…a sentence that introduces the topic; Find and explain the deeper meaning of the statement; Justify your ideas with thorough evidence from the story and examples; finish with a closing sentence that “wraps things up.”
