FRENCH: Reminder, the French quiz is tomorrow. Review your numbers 1 to 60, calendar, weather and greeting vocabulary.
LEARNING UPDATES: please remember to bring your envelope back to school (parents sign it first).
LAST DAY OF SCHOOL: Friday, March 15th is the last day of school. Enjoy your 2 week spring break!
Monday, March 11th
MATHS: Study for the Unit test which is tomorrow and make sure you have a basic calculator. Use the Extra Practice booklet given out today to help you study (there are answers in the back so you can check your work)
For the test, you need to know:
- fractions patterns (think what’s unique about thirds, fifths, ninths etc)
- convert fractions to decimals and decimals to fractions
- decimal patterns, repeating decimals, and terminating decimals
- compare decimals and fractions, ordering decimals and fractions
- using benchmarks, number lines and equivalent fractions to compare fractions
- different strategies for comparing fractions and decimals
- how to estimate reasonably
- how to add and subtract decimals
- how to multiply and divide decimals
- order of operations with decimals
- relating fractions, decimals and percent
- solve problems with fractions and decimals
- solve percent problems (percent of a number)
FRENCH: do some review for the quiz on Thursday. You should know your numbers up to 60, calendar vocabulary, greetings, weather. Do not stress though – this is a quiz only and it will be suited to your capabilities. There will be some word banks and spelling will be a separate mark.
UPCOMING: Report cards/Learning Update #2 goes home tomorrow.
Friday, March 15 is the last day of school before Spring Break.

ECO FAIR: It was a wild success! Congratulations once again! I’ve received so many glowing comments from other teachers and students about your amazing exhibits! Well done everyone!
MATHS: Please do some review for the Unit test on Tuesday. You can use your notebook, your PRACTICE book and the online textbook to help you study. Review all the lessons. There’s a unit review in the Practice book too.

WOW! What an amazing Eco Fair! Thank you for all your hard work, critical thinking and creativity! Have a restful evening – you did a lot of teaching!
MATHS: Please finish the Unit Review in the textbook, pgs 121/122, #1, 2, 3, 7, 9, 11, 13, and 15. Due Friday. The unit test will be next Tuesday.

Tuesday, March 5th
ECO FAIR: Thank you to the groups who presented today – we know it is not easy. This was good practice for you so you can be your best during the Eco Fair. Please consider the feedback I was able to give you. We will have 2 more presentations tomorrow morning and then we present to the school in the afternoon!
Remember to please bring a tablecloth to cover the desks if you have one (I have only 5 tablecloths in the classroom to lend out).
Reminder: parents and family are welcome to join us Wednesday afternoon! If that doesn’t work, then please by all means come visit Thursday morning.

Tuesday, March 5: In-class presentations. Practice for your in-class presentation tomorrow.
Remember the criteria for great presenting:
Presenting Criteria: (for each person in the group)
- Knowledgeable on the issue; can teach others the importance of their inquiry
- Shows enthusiasm and passion about the topic
- Explains the plan (solutions) in detail with logical & practical solutions
- Can answer questions asked by audience
- Engages readily with visitors to the exhibit
- Speaks clearly, loudly, and confidently when presenting
- Well-prepared, doesn’t read off the display board
- All group members contribute equally in the presentation
